March 6, 2026 | From New Orleans Fire Department
As Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 8, 2026, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) reminds residents to “spring forward” safely. Take a moment to test your home’s smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms and replace 9‑volt backup batteries in hard-wired alarms. For residents in need, the NOFD offers FREE 10-year lithium battery smoke alarms. To request this potentially lifesaving service, call 504-658-4714 or submit a request online at www.nola.gov/free-smoke-alarm and click “Request a Smoke Alarm.” Enjoy a safe spring—remember to check your alarms when you change your clocks.
