NOFD Responds to Two-Alarm Fire in NOE

On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 12:56 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a reported fire involving an occupied dwelling at 4525 Charlene Dr. in New Orleans East. The first NOFD units arrived on the scene at 1:03 p.m., finding the rear of a single-family dwelling heavily involved in flames. Two adult residents were home at the time. They were notified by neighbors that the rear of the home was on fire and escaped safely. A second alarm was requested at 1:07 p.m., in anticipation of the fire extending to the neighboring residence to the immediate right. NOFD Fire Operations personnel successfully limited the damage sustained by the neighboring exposure to mild/moderate damage to the left and rear exterior walls.

Eighteen NOFD units, supported by fifty fire operations personnel, were dispatched to this incident. There were no injuries reported, and the fire was placed under control at 1:21 p.m. The American Red Cross has been contacted in efforts to assist the three adults and one child affected by this fire.
