June 5, 2026 | From New Orleans Fire Department
On June 5, 2026, at 12:53 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to assist in the recovery of a body in the water near 8000 Lakeshore Dr. The first NOFD unit arrived on scene at 1:01 p.m. and immediately requested assistance. Four NOFD units, supported by thirteen Fire Operations personnel, were dispatched to complete the recovery. The body was successfully recovered from the water and all responding units were placed back in service at 1:56 p.m. The New Orleans Police Department, New Orleans Emergency Medical Services and Orleans Levee District Police all responded to this incident.
