NOFD Responds to Two-Alarm Fire on Texas Drive; One Rescued

The New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a two-alarm fire yesterday evening at a four-apartment building at 3831 Texas Drive. The NOFD received the call at 5:09 p.m. and dispatched units immediately. The first company arrived at 5:16 p.m., reporting fire and heavy smoke. A second alarm was requested at 5:17 p.m.

Firefighters rescued a woman from a second-story window while other crew members extinguished the fire. All other residents evacuated safely. The fire started in an apartment bedroom.

Sixteen units and 44 personnel brought the fire under control by 5:40 p.m. Seven displaced residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross. Three neighboring four-plex buildings are temporarily without power while Entergy works to isolate the units.
