February 12, 2026 | From New Orleans Fire Department
On Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 8:50 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a reported fire involving a dwelling at 7442 Springlake Dr. in New Orleans East. The first of eighteen NOFD units, supported by forty-three NOFD Fire Operations personnel, arrived on the scene at 8:56 p.m. Neighbors advised firefighters that the resident was not home at the time. A primary search of the two-story single-family home was still conducted as crews simultaneously began performing interior and exterior attacks on the fire. A second alarm was requested at 9:00 a.m., as flames began to threaten occupied exposures to the immediate left and right of the fire building.
The home suffered severe damage, but firefighters were able to limit the damage to the two neighboring homes to minor exposure to radiant heat. There were no injuries reported and this incident was placed under control at 10:15 p.m. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
