Home » NOPD Crime Lab » About Us
Our crime laboratory is structured to ensure scientific integrity, efficient casework management, and clear lines of responsibility. At the top of our organizational chart is Laboratory Leadership, which provides overall direction, ensures compliance with accreditation standards, and supports the lab’s mission to deliver reliable forensic science services.
Beneath leadership, the laboratory is organized into specialized forensic sections, each overseen by experienced supervisors. These units focus on specific scientific disciplines—such as DNA analysis, drug chemistry, and firearms examination—allowing staff to maintain deep expertise in their respective fields. Administrative and quality assurance teams support all sections by managing case submissions, maintaining rigorous quality oversight, and ensuring continual improvement.
This structure promotes transparency, accountability, and collaboration across the laboratory, helping us provide accurate and timely results for the criminal justice system.
