Crime Laboratory Internship Overview​

We are recruiting motivated and enthusiastic science students to join our team and gain hands-on experience working with forensic scientists in Forensic Biology, Drug Chemistry, Firearms, and Crime Scene Investigation.

Internship program goals​:

• Provide interns with instruction and familiarity with one area of expertise​

• Create an opportunity for local science students by providing valuable experience within a 17025 accredited crime laboratory​

• Forge connections with local universities and learn more about our scientific community​

• Recruit students with strong science skills to aid and assist in valuable and meaningful projects that positively impact public safety and the community​

Application Process

2. Cover Letter (include area of interest)​

3. Essay on “Why should the NOPD select you?”​

4. Resume​

5. Minimum GPA of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale​

6. College Transcript​

7. Verification of current enrollment (produced at time of application and periodically throughout internship)​

8. Letter of recommendation from college official, city official or NOPD officer
