At the helm of NOPD, the Office of the Superintendent provides strategic leadership and oversight for all bureaus. Through its Public Affairs and Technology Divisions, this office ensures effective communication and technological advancement throughout the department.

Professional Standards and Accountability Bureau (PSAB)

The PSAB maintains departmental excellence through key functions like the Consent Decree Implementation, Information Systems, Performance Standards, and Policy Standards. Our team ensures compliance with federal standards while managing technological needs and departmental policies.

Consent Decree Implementation Section 

  •  The Consent Decree Implementation Section serves as the liaison between the City of New Orleans, including the Police Department, and the United States Department of Justice and the Office of the Consent Decree Monitor, coordinating compliance and implementation actions and facilitating the sharing of data, documents, materials and access among the various personnel and parties related to the Consent Decree.
  • Information Systems Section - The Information Systems Section analyzes crime patterns, produces statistical data for the Department’s weekly MAX meeting, oversees the use of body worn cameras, supports the use of in-car cameras, and provides installation and support of portable laptop computers installed in police vehicles.
  • Performance Standards Section - The Performance Standards Section ensures members of the department are operating in compliance with the department's rules, regulations, orders, and policies. In addition, the Performance Standards Section conducts employee drug testing, assures required court appearances, conducts random report reviews, and implements citizen satisfaction surveys.
  • Policy Standards Section - The Policy Standards Section develops and implements all department regulations, orders, policies and rules. In addition, the Policy Standards Section is responsible for disseminating the department’s annual hurricane operations manual, national law enforcement legal developments, and daily training bulletins.

Field Operations Bureau (FOB)

Operating through eight district offices across New Orleans, FOB provides frontline police services through specialized units including the Violent Offender Warrant Squad, Bomb Disposal, Marine Operations, and K-9 units. We work closely with Orleans Parish Communications District to ensure rapid emergency response.

Investigation and Support Bureau (ISB)

ISB leads complex investigations through three specialized divisions: Criminal Investigation, Specialized Investigations, and Crime Lab & Evidence. From homicide investigations to property crimes, our teams work tirelessly to solve cases and prevent future crimes.

The Public Integrity Bureau (PIB)

The Public Integrity Bureau promotes credibility and public confidence in New Orleans police officers. PIB enforces the highest standards of professional police performance through preventive measures and thorough investigations of both citizen and NOPD-initiated misconduct allegations. We receive complaints in a welcoming, non-intimidating environment and conduct objective, comprehensive reviews of all allegations.
