LGBTQ Liaisons

The NOPD's LGBTQ Liaisons serve as dedicated points of contact between law enforcement and the LGBTQ community. We provide direct support for LGBTQ individuals who experience crime or need assistance with police services.

Under Superintendent Woodfork's strategic crime plan, the New Orleans Police Department will host a Summer Basketball League initiative.  This Community Engagement initiative is open to the public to attend. Any age or team is eligible to sign up.

Police Athletic/Activities League (PAL)

Police Activity/Athletic Leagues began in 1914. The New York City Police Department formed the first PAL in an effort to reduce juvenile crime. As a membership organization, National PAL provides local Chapters in 41 states plus the District of Columbia; and Nigeria, Africa, with resources and opportunities to grow their own programs and enhance the quality of individual programing.

The NOPD provides comprehensive support for crime victims through our Victim/Witness Assistance Program. Louisiana law grants you specific rights when reporting crimes against persons. After reporting within 72 hours, we connect you with emergency services and provide a detailed resource guide.

After a three-week investigation, NOPD Traffic Fatality Investigators have arrested Erica Smith Katsanis, (White female DOB: 07/31/1972).  She was arrested on Wednesday February 25, 2026 and booked on one count of vehicular homicide (LAR.S. 14:32.1) in connection with the death of Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Deputy Christopher Olhmeyer.
