Citizen's Police Academy

The New Orleans Police Department invites community members aged 21 and above to participate in our Citizens Police Academy, an immersive program that provides unique insights into modern law enforcement practices and the criminal justice system..

LGBTQ Liaisons

The NOPD's LGBTQ Liaisons serve as dedicated points of contact between law enforcement and the LGBTQ community. We provide direct support for LGBTQ individuals who experience crime or need assistance with police services.

Officer Friendly Program

The Officer Friendly program is one of the most requested programs by the Community. Most residents recall their first interaction with Law Enforcement in elementary school, when Officer Friendly and his pal, McGruff visited their school.

Police Athletic/Activities League (PAL)

Police Activity/Athletic Leagues began in 1914. The New York City Police Department formed the first PAL in an effort to reduce juvenile crime. As a membership organization, National PAL provides local Chapters in 41 states plus the District of Columbia; and Nigeria, Africa, with resources and opportunities to grow their own programs and enhance the quality of individual programing.

Summer Basket Ball

Under Superintendent Woodfork's strategic crime plan, the New Orleans Police Department will host a Summer Basketball League initiative. This Community Engagement initiative is open to the public to attend. Any age or team is eligible to sign up.

Junior Citizens Police Academy

In partnership with the New Orleans Recreation Department, this is a great opportunity for youth of New Orleans to meet and hear from our Criminal Justice Partners while participating in hands–on learning experiences with fun interactive learning tools.

Volunteer Citizen Ambassador Program

Volunteer Ambassador Programs are a strategy based on the concept that police officers and private citizens work together to support the community. Many forms of Volunteer Ambassador programs have been in the U.S for quite some time.

Victim & Witness Assistance Program

The NOPD provides comprehensive support for crime victims through our Victim/Witness Assistance Program. Louisiana law grants you specific rights when reporting crimes against persons. After reporting within 72 hours, we connect you with emergency services and provide a detailed resource guide.
