Superintendent Anne E. Kirkpatrick and the New Orleans Police Department are excited to launch our Junior Citizens Police Academy Program, offering young people a unique opportunity to explore the world of law enforcement through hands-on experiences.
Working alongside the New Orleans Recreation Department, we've designed an immersive six-week program starting Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Participants will discover how modern police work combines community service with cutting-edge technology. Our interactive sessions explore community policing, daily patrol operations, forensic science in our Crime Lab, and the latest technological tools that help keep our city safe.
This isn't just about watching presentations – you'll get hands-on experience with the tools and techniques used by real police officers. Through engaging demonstrations and interactive activities, you'll work directly with our Criminal Justice Partners to understand how law enforcement serves and protects our community.
We're looking for young people who want to make a difference in New Orleans. Whether you're curious about a career in law enforcement or simply want to understand how police work really happens, this program offers invaluable insights into modern policing.
