Historic Sites

History is around every corner in New Orleans as befits a city founded 300 years ago in 1718.   Many of these historical landmarks are found in the parks, squares and neutral grounds under the supervision of the Department of Parks and Parkways. Federal, state and local markers provide a guide to the city’s past. Our parks and neutral grounds are also home to statues and monuments that reveal the heritage of the city.
