BLACK PEARL/EAST CARROLLTON GROUP A MAKING PROGRESS

The $11.9M Black Pearl / East Carrollton Group A project, which began construction in August 2020, continues making progress. Contractor Hard Rock Construction Co., LLC is restoring roadways on Maple, Cohn, Birch, Fern and Short streets. Sewer and water line replacement work began in the 200 block of Hillary street and will continue to the 300 block. In the coming months, work will also include sidewalk and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant ramps throughout the project. The project is expected to be completed in spring 2022, weather permitting.

BLACK PEARL GROUP B CONTINUES MOVING

The $5.1M Black Pearl Group B project began construction in December 2020. Contractor Infinity Construction is installing sewer, water and drain lines on the block of 100 to 500 Millaudon and the 7700 and 7900 blocks of Dominican, which will continue for the next few months. Water main pressure testing will continue throughout Dominican and Millaudon streets during these installations.

WORK CONTINUES TO PROGRESS THE LAKEVIEW NORTH GROUP C

Palmisano Construction completed a substantial amount of the project’s waterline work on the Lakeview North Group C infrastructure improvement project during the summer. Crews have completed tie-ins on many streets, including Milne Street and Canal Boulevard. Work is also progressing on sidewalks and driveway aprons. Currently, crews are working on Mouton and Milne Streets, as well as on the areas adjacent to Mount Carmel Academy.

WORK SET TO BEGIN ON THE MAGAZINE STREET PHASE II PROJECT ( LEAKE AVE. - EAST DR.) IN DECEMBER

Work on the Magazine Street Phase II infrastructure project is set to begin December 2021 immediately following the underground utility relocation work being performed by Entergy.

CREWS PREPARE FOR EXPANDED SCOPE OF WORK ON ARABELLA ON THE AUDUBON GROUP A

Boh Bros construction crews, in close collaboration with the Department of Public Works and  Sewerage and Water Board plan to begin the added scope on Arabella Street as a part of the $7.3M Audubon Group A  infrastructure improvement project. The 900-1100 blocks of Arabella will be fully reconstructed to include new drainage and waterlines. This work is expected to be complete within 60 days, weather permitting. The added scope of work extends the project to January 2022.

BREAKWATER DRIVE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT TEMPORARILY DEMOBILIZED

The Breakwater Drive improvement project temporarily demobilized over the summer while awaiting FEMA approvals on enhanced plans for the parking lot and relocation of lighting. Approvals are expected to be finalized in the coming days, at which time work will resume. The project is still expected to be complete by winter 2022.

WEST END GROUP A MAKES STRIDES TOWARD COMPLETION

With the completion of roadway paving on both 22nd and 30th streets, Beverly Construction crew has moved the West End Group A project into substantial completion. Final walk-through inspections have already began in the completed areas of the project. Weather, the addition of new waterlines and upsized drainage contributed to delays on this project. The work remains close to 90% complete, with an expected completion by fall 2021.

French Quarter Sidewalk Improvement Program

The City is investing $2M in bond funds to improve sidewalks in residential parts of the French Quarter.  Work is 99% complete on Barracks Street, 100% complete on Gov. Nicholls Street, 80% complete on Bourbon Street and 80% completed on Ursulines Street; St. Phillip Street work will no longer be included as part of this program. Currently, the contractor is anticipated to resume work on this program in November.  All segments of the French Quarter Sidewalk Improvement Plan are expected to be complete in winter 2021

Lafitte Corridor Greenway (North Lopez Pedestrian Bridge) project

Work has now resumed on the $700K Lafitte Corridor Greenway’s North Lopez Pedestrian Bridge project, as the project team worked on re-designing the north and south pile caps of the bridge due to their condition and location. The project involves a new bike and pedestrian bridge over the St. Louis Canal along the Lafitte Greenway. It is being designed by Rahman and Associates, Inc., and the contractor is Cycle Construction Co., LLC. Funding for the project is provided by City of New Orleans bonds and Louisiana DOTD Federal Highway Administration funds.

Traffic Advisory: Temporary Lane Closures on Broad Street Overpass Beginning Monday

Beginning Monday, Nov. 8, weather permitting, for two weeks, City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) and its contractor Pavement Markings will temporarily close lanes on the South Broad Street overpass between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to perform maintenance and upgrades on the bike lanes between Third Street and Tulane Avenue. One lane of traffic in both directions will remain open at all times.
