CREWS CONTINUE WATER LINE WORK ON THE LOWER NINTH WARD NORTHWEST GROUP B PROJECT

Wallace C. Drennan, in close collaboration with Sewerage and Water Board New Orleans, continued installations and tie-ins of water lines on the Lower Ninth Ward Northwest Group B project in September. While crews continue with water line installations and tie-ins, concrete crews have started pouring back roadway, sidewalks and driveway aprons along Reynes Street.

WATER LINE WORK CONTINUES ON THE LOWER NINTH WARD NORTHEAST GROUP B PROJECT

Fleming Construction crews, in close collaboration with Sewerage and Water Board New Orleans, began installations and tie-ins of water lines on the Lower Ninth Ward Northeast Group B   project in August. Crews have completed water line work in the 1800 block of Tupelo Street and plan to complete all water line work between North Derbigny and North Galvez streets during the month of October.  Residents will continue to be notified of work that will impact their access and/or cause disruption to their utilities.

CREWS CONTINUE REPAVING OPEN AREAS ON THE LITTLE WOODS GROUP A PROJECT

Command Construction, LLC crews continued repaving all areas during the month of September on the Little Woods Group A project. With a large percentage of the open areas addressed, crews are expected to begin on roadway operations on other parts of the project in October.

City to Temporary Close Royal Street

Beginning on Friday, Oct. 23, City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Boh Bros. Construction Company, LLC will close the 400 block of Royal Street to vehicular traffic for approximately 10 days to accommodate utility upgrades. The street closure will begin each morning at 8 a.m. and reopen to vehicular traffic at 5 p.m. each evening. Public safety is our priority; residents and commuters are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near the construction site. There will be an NOPD traffic detail during this work to assist pedestrians and motorists.

PAVING AND WATER LINE WORK CONTINUE ON READ EAST GROUP D

Beverly Construction crews continue water line and paving operations on the Read Boulevard Group D project. Crews have less than 10 water line tie-ins remaining before the project can move into the substantial completion phase. New water lines, upgraded drainage, and roadway paving are still on track to be completed this fall.

CONCRETE POURS APPROACH COMPLETION ON READ EAST C PROJECT

Palmisano Construction crews began pouring new sidewalks, driveway aprons and roadway on the Read East Boulevard Group C project in September. They expect to complete Maid Maron and Sherwood Drive in October. Crews continue to perform water line work that had to be rescheduled due to the threat of inclement weather. Paving operations will begin immediately following the water line work.

WATER LINE OPERATIONS AND PAVING OPERATIONS 80 PERCENT COMPLETE ON READ EAST GROUP B PROJECT

Beverly Construction crews have completed 80 percent of the water line and roadway restoration work on the Read Boulevard East Group B project. Tie-ins were successfully completed throughout the project through September. Crews have also completed roadway restoration in many areas, including Sierra Madre Drive. Crews will continue work on the remaining water line work and sidewalk operations through the month of October.

ROADWAY RESTORATION, WATER LINE REPAIRS UNDERWAY IN VILLAGE DE L’EST GROUP B

Work is wrapping up in the $7.3M Village De L’Est Group B project. Roadway re-pavement continued on Strasbourg and Bergerac streets this month, and crews continued working on water line tie-ins in the project area. In addition, new sidewalks and driveway aprons were prepped and installed throughout the project footprint. Learn more about the project by viewing a copy of the public meeting presentation here.

CREWS ARE FINISHING WATER LINES AND DRAIN LINES IN PINES VILLAGE GROUP B PROJECT

In October Hard Rock Construction Co. crews removed existing roadway and installed a new roadway base at Francis Drive and Ransom Street, on Prentiss and Selma streets at Majestic Oaks, and on Ransom at Virgilian and Majestic Oaks. Work also included installing new ADA-compliant ramps, sidewalk and driveway aprons on Ransom Street, and drainage work on Francis Drive. Scope of work for the project includes replacing damaged underground drainage lines, repaving the roadway, replacing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons, and installing ADA-compliant curb ramps at intersections. Construction began in March 2020.

PINES VILLAGE GROUP A CONTINUES WITH PAVEMENT RESTORATION AND SIDEWALK INSTALLATION

Crews completed all sewer line work in October and continued making progress with manhole restorations. Water line work continued, asphalt restoration began on Dwyer Road, and crews proceeded with concrete removal and replacement on Morrison Road.  Crews also began asphalt milling and installation of the roadway wearing course in the 4400-4700 blocks of Francis Drive. The approximately $18.2M project was designed by All South Consulting Engineers Inc., and is estimated to be complete in fall 2021  weather permitting.
