This important decision reflects the City’s commitment to the successful completion of ongoing projects and the efficient execution of upcoming projects within the program.

On Saturday, Dec. 14, beginning at 7 a.m., the Department of Parks & Parkways will close the Interstate 10 on ramps of Tulane Avenue (I-10 East) and Orleans Avenue (I-10 West) to complete vegetation and tree pruning. Vehicular traffic will be detoured from the Tulane Avenue entrance further eastbound on North Claiborne Avenue to access the next on ramp at Dumaine Street. The detour on Orleans Avenue will direct traffic further west bound on South Claiborne Avenue to access the next on ramp past Gravier Street. This work will address trimming of intentionally planted trees and palms at these locations and removal of invasive vegetation to improve visibility for drivers

The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works (DPW) is pleased to announce the reopening of the DeSaix Boulevard Bridge and the completion of associated improvements along the 1700 and 1800 blocks of Moss Street. The bridge, which crosses Bayou St. John, has reopened to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, providing improved connectivity for the area. Pedestrian access to the Wisner Bridge has also been restored.

The City of New Orleans announced beginning on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. through Thursday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. the Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor, Barriere Construction Co., LLC will close Perdido Street between S. Galvez Street and S. Claiborne Avenue to perform mill and overlay operations.

The City of New Orleans announced that, effective immediately, the Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor, Boh Bros Construction Co., LLC, will begin temporary closures on various streets in the French Quarter to perform mill and overlay operations. Project completion is expected by February 2025, weather permitting. Construction will typically occur Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Streets will reopen each evening to vehicular traffic.
The City of New Orleans today announced that starting Saturday, December 6, 2024, the Department of Public Works (DPW), in close coordination with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD), will close the right lane of westbound I-10 between Gravier Street and the Broad Street Overpass. In addition, the I-10 on-ramp from Poydras Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The City of New Orleans announce that beginning on Monday, Nov. 25, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor, Boh Bros Construction Co., LLC will close Lincoln Beach Boulevard between Congress Drive and Press Drive to perform milling operations.

The City of New Orleans announces today that the Downtown Development District and the City, through the Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Office of Resilience & Sustainability (ORS), have each been awarded grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Planning Program. Funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act/Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (IIJA/BIL), these two grants represent a collaborative step forward in addressing traffic safety challenges and creating safer streets for all New Orleanians.
