NEW ORLEANS EAST RE-PAVING PROJECTS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN THIS SUMMER

The City is planning to use funds approved by voters during the 2016 bond sale to re-pave several high traffic roadways in New Orleans East this fall.

JOE W. BROWN PARK BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION OVER NORTH LAGOON APPROXIMATELY 70 PERCENT COMPLETE

Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC has placed each of the pre-fabricated concrete bridge arches into place over the North Lagoon at Joe W. Brown Memorial Park. Construction crews are now working on the adjoining roadway approaches.

MICHOUD BLVD. RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT 15 PERCENT COMPLETE

The long-awaited Michoud Blvd. Reconstruction Project is approximately 15 percent complete. Construction crews have placed new asphalt at the location of the new bus turn around on Dwyer Rd. and on the northbound travel lane between Chef Menteur Hwy. and the 4600 block of Michoud Blvd. New sidewalks and curbs have been replaced, as needed while construction crews continue to install the new sewer force main in the neutral ground.

YOUTH STUDY CENTER STREETS PROJECT PAVING GOING WELL

Dieudonne Enterprises, LLC construction crews are currently 55 percent complete with the Youth Study Center Streets construction project in the Pilotland neighborhood.

FRENCH QUARTER SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM CONTINUES ON DECATUR ST.

The City of New Orleans’ construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC continues installing sidewalks along the 800 - 1300 blocks of Decatur St. as part of the French Quarter Sidewalk Improvement Program, Phase 2. The overall project is approximately 70 percent complete and is anticipated to be wrapped up in September 2017, weather permitting.

FRENCH QUARTER INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WELL UNDERWAY

Hard Rock Construction, LLC and Boh Bros. Construction, LLC are currently working in the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of Bourbon St. These blocks are closed to traffic while under construction. 

Due to significant rain delays, unforeseen site conditions and budget, the City has determined that it will take a phased approach to complete the project.

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROJECT NEAR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF LOUISIANA SUBSTANTIALLY COMPLETE

Roubion Roads and Streets, LLC has substantially completed the Safe Routes to School project near the International School of Louisiana.

S. GALVEZ ST. RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT PROGRESSING ON SCHEDULE

Command Construction Industries, LLC crews have completed installing the new water and sewer lines on the traditionally river bound travel lane of S. Galvez St. in Central City. Approximately 60 percent of the new drainage lines have also been installed between Toledano St. and Fourth St., making the $5.4M reconstruction project approximately 25 percent complete. Crews will begin installing new roadway base course this week and a pavement placement will occur before the end of the month.

ST. CHARLES AVE. REPAVING PROJECT APPROACHES FINAL PHASE OF CONSTRUCTION

The $4.3M St. Charles Ave. Repaving Project, designed to remove and replace damaged portions of the asphalt roadway between Louisiana Ave. and Calliope St., is approximately 40 percent complete.

WISNER BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION SLIGHTLY DELAYED, DETOUR REMAINS IN EFFECT

Reconstruction of the Wisner Bridge over I-610 is slightly delayed and the detour remains in effect. Construction of the new $19.5M bridge began in December 2015. It was originally scheduled to be completed this spring; however, during construction, the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) determined that the finger joints, which connect sections of the bridge deck together, did not fit properly.
