Reconstruction of the Wisner Bridge over I-610 is slightly delayed and the detour remains in effect. Construction of the new $19.5M bridge began in December 2015. It was originally scheduled to be completed this spring; however, during construction, the Department of Transportation and Development determined that the finger joints, which connect sections of the bridge deck together, did not fit properly. As a result, the designer is implementing corrective measures to ensure public safety for the design life of the bridge. This is expected to delay completion of the bridge until September 30, 2017. This new date will allow the bridge to be open for use by the pedestrians and bicyclist, as well as vehicular traffic, at the same time.
The Department of Public Works is currently working with Barriere Construction Co., LLC to improve drainage on Henry Clay Ave. between St. Charles Ave. and Hurst St. Construction on the $1M maintenance project is scheduled to last through the summer.
Due to weather delays and necessary repairs to the sewer and drainage system, the completion date for the $1.8M S. Johnson and Melodia Ct. full-depth reconstruction project is now August 1, 2017 – barring additional weather related delays.
Construction is progressing well on the Fleur de Lis Phase III project in the West End neighborhood, though inclement weather has added a couple weeks to the project schedule. Command Construction Industries, LLC crews have nearly completed installing the water line in the traditionally north bound travel lane between 30th St. and Old Hammond Hwy.
Richard C. Lambert Consultants and Hard Rock Construction LLC are awaiting approvals to adjust the scope of work on the Lakeview North Group A Project in order ensure constructability and positive drainage. These scope changes are necessary to ensure that blocks within the project will have adequate drainage.
Mayor Mitch Landrieu, joined by Sewerage and Water Board (SWB) Executive Director Cedric S. Grant, FEMA, city and state officials and community members unveiled the Water Hammer construction project at Carrollton Water Plant in June 2017.

Dieudonne Enterprises, LLC construction crews are now 25 percent complete with the Youth Study Center Streets construction project in the Pilotland neighborhood. The project is on schedule to be completed in the fall of 2017.
The City’s construction contractor Hard Rock Construction, LLC is currently 5 percent complete with the $6M French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project. Improvements are an element of the Citywide Public Safety Improvement Program launched earlier this year and include reconstructing Bourbon St. from Canal to Dumaine streets, repaving portions of St. Ann St., St. Peters St., Iberville St., Madison St., Chartres St. and Conti St., installing new streetlights and improving sidewalk conditions in the French Quarter.
Command Construction Enterprises, LLC crews are currently working on the S. Galvez St. reconstruction project in Central City. The $5.4M reconstruction project runs from Toledano St. to Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Safety fencing and signage is in place to ensure residents and commuters are safe while near the construction site.
