Completed N. Galvez St. reconstruction project brings citywide bikeway total to 120 miles

Reconstruction of the $6.7M N. Galvez St. reconstruction project between Elysian Fields Ave. and Almonaster Blvd. project in the St. Roch neighborhood is now complete.

City celebrates completion of the Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. Streetscape Project

On April 4, the City of New Orleans, businesses and community members celebrated completion of the Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. Streetscape Project in Central City. The $1.85M project, which was designed to revitalize the area, was funded through a Disaster-Community Development Block Grant.  Construction began in August 2016 and was completed on time and within budget.

Gravier St. Reconstruction project nears completion

The Gravier St. Reconstruction Project is approximately 85 percent complete and on schedule to be wrapped up this Spring. The project, which spans between S. Galvez St. and S. Broad St., will help improve juror access to the Orleans Parish Courthouse and resident access to the Falstaff Building.

Wisner Bridge construction progressing well

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, City of New Orleans, Regional Planning Commission and Federal Highway Administration will soon complete reconstruction of the $19.5M Wisner Bridge. The Wisner Bridge runs parallel to Bayou St. John and connects Wisner Blvd. over Interstate-610. The existing concrete girder was demolished when construction began in late 2015. The new steel girder bridge is 1800 ft. long, 65-ft wide and is being placed in the same location as the previous bridge.

Michoud Blvd. Reconstruction Project scheduled to begin this Spring

The Michoud Blvd. Reconstruction Project was awarded to Cycle Construction Company, LLC and the scope includes reconstructing the portion of Michoud Blvd. from Chef Menteur Hwy. to Dwyer Rd. Construction is scheduled to begin in late May and will last about one year.

Joe Brown Park Bridge Construction over North Lagoon scheduled to begin in May

Patrons of the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission’s (NORDC) Joe W. Brown Memorial Park facility can expect improved mobility throughout the park in a few months. Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC was awarded a $1.2M contract to reconstruct the bridge over the North Lagoon.

Work continues on the second of three projects designed to improve infrastructure in the St. Bernard area

Dieudonne Enterprises, LLC construction crews have successfully replaced each of the four water lines planned as part of the Youth Study Center Streets infrastructure improvement project in the Pilotland area. This $2.4M project is now 20 percent complete.

N. Galvez St. Reconstruction Project nears completion

The $6.7M N. Galvez St. Reconstruction Project between Elysian Fields Ave. and Almonaster Blvd. project in the St. Roch neighborhood is nearly complete. The project was designed by CB&I. The construction contractor is Durr Heavy Construction, LLC.

French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project began April 24

The City of New Orleans & Sewerage and Water Board began the $6M French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project on April 24, 2017 as part of the Citywide Public Safety Improvement Program. The scope of work calls for reconstructing Bourbon St. from Canal to Dumaine streets, repaving portions of St. Ann St., St. Peters St., Iberville St., Madison St., Chartres St. and Conti St., as well as installing new streetlights and improving sidewalk conditions.

City to begin construction of S. Galvez St. Infrastructure Improvement Project in April

Central City residents that typically use S. Galvez St. to access the CBD from the Uptown area should plan to use S. Broad St. and S. Claiborne Ave. for next several months. The City will soon re-route traffic and begin reconstructing the roadway on S. Galvez St. between Toledano St. and Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. as part of a $5.4M reconstruction project.
