French Quarter Infrastructure Update – August 28, 2025

🚧 French Quarter Construction Update – August 28, 2025

The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) shared an update on ongoing infrastructure work:

  • Fire Hydrant Valve Removal: A faulty hydrant valve was removed to maintain fire service and support new drain line installation on St. Peter Street. Work on the west side (Tableau side) is expected to finish next week, weather permitting.

  • Utility Coordination: SWBNO and Entergy are addressing conflicts with an older gas manhole and electrical lines at St. Peter & Royal.

  • Decatur Street Progress: Work continues on the 900 and 1000 blocks of Decatur. Both blocks are on schedule for early October completion, after which SWBNO crews will begin replacing water, sewer, and drain lines.

Construction fencing, lighting, and ongoing updates will remain in place to ensure safety and communication. Contractors will also be working through the holiday weekend to keep the project on track.

Thank you for your patience as these essential improvements move forward.
