Public Works Strengthens City Through Civic Engagement and Community Connections
The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) continues to prioritize community engagement and transparency as key components of its mission to improve infrastructure citywide.
Throughout October, DPW staff connected with residents and community stakeholders through several outreach initiatives, including participation in the Civic Leadership Academy, the Country Club Gardens Association Meeting, the Neighborhood Cares Initiative in Edgewood Heights, and Community Office Hours for Districts A and E. These events provided opportunities to discuss neighborhood infrastructure priorities, address resident concerns, and share updates on ongoing and upcoming roadway and drainage projects.
Engagement efforts have continued into November, with DPW representatives participating in the City of New Orleans Neighborhood Summit, the Lakeview Neighborhood Civic Improvement Association Meeting, Community Office Hours for Districts B and C, and the Walnut Bend Neighborhood Association Meeting. DPW has also attended the Pontchartrain Park Neighborhood Association Meeting to continue conversations about neighborhood-specific infrastructure needs and capital improvement projects.
Across all events, DPW remains committed to strengthening partnerships with the community, promoting transparency, and ensuring residents are informed about the City’s ongoing infrastructure investments. Through these continued efforts, DPW reaffirms its dedication to improving the quality, safety, and reliability of streets and sidewalks throughout New Orleans.
