Roadwork Rundown — Nov. 2025
Construction Updates at a Glance
The Department of Public Works (DPW) continues to make steady progress on infrastructure improvements throughout the city. These projects strengthen streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems, supporting safer travel and more resilient neighborhoods.
Alleyway Projects
DPW’s ongoing alleyway work in Lakeview continues to re-grade alleyways at various locations.
Southwest Quadrant: Work began in early September 2025. Crews are moving eastward from the Louis XIV Street Alleyway area toward Canal Boulevard. Residents and business owners will receive advance Notices of Work before construction begins near their property. Visit the project page for details.
Sidewalk Construction Projects
DPW is launching citywide sidewalk improvement projects to enhance pedestrian access and meet ADA standards. Each location will take roughly two weeks to complete.
DPW782 – ROW Sidewalk Improvements #1: Zones 1, 4 & 5 — beginning at the 500 block of Tchoupitoulas Street.
DPW783 – ROW Sidewalk Improvements #2: Contracting phase underway; Zones 6, 7 & 8.
DPW784 – ROW Sidewalk Improvements #3: Starting at the Tullis and Lenox intersection with sidewalk work around the bus stops (Zones 11 & 12, West Bank).
DPW785 – ROW Sidewalk Improvements #4: Beginning along Curran Boulevard near Eastshore Playground (Zones 2, 3, 9 & 10).
DPW771: Asphalt ROW Improvements
Crews are restoring roadways, milling and overlaying pavement, and repairing sidewalks and curbs.
Recent highlights:
Canal Street (N. Claiborne – City Park): Asphalt work is complete; final paving at Norman Francis Parkway is scheduled for early November 2025.
Mid-City area: Bernadotte, Street Patrick, Cleveland, and Olympia streets have been repaved.
Napoleon Avenue: Riverbound lanes were repaved between Loyola Avenue and St. Charles Avenue.
Press Drive: Crews repaved the corridor between Chef Menteur Highway and Old Gentilly Road.
1800-2000 Abundance Street: Resurfacing restored several failing pavement sections.
Paris Avenue: Crews completed patching at John F. Kennedy High School and Wakefield Place.
North Galvez Street (Canal – St. Louis): Roadway removal and curb resetting are nearing completion; substantial completion is projected for December 2025.
North Galvez Street (Almonaster Avenue to Clouet Street): is scheduled for resurfacing.
Asphalt improvements on Saint Louis Street near Hey! Café, Skeeta Hawk Brewery, and Flour Moon Bagels are complete. Crews will return in November to patch portions of the Lafitte Greenway. Improvements to the asphalt between Broad Street and North Dorgenois Street are expected to take 2-3 weeks.
Harrison Avenue (West End – Argonne): Crosswalk improvements have been completed at all intersections between Canal Boulevard and Argonne Boulevard . Crews are continuing patching on the 100 - 700 blocks of Harrison Avenue. This area’s work is expected to be comple in November 2025.

DPW772: Right of Way (ROW) Improvements 2024, Phase 2
The DPW772 Right of Way Improvements project continues to address critical street and sidewalk repairs in several areas of the city. This ongoing work includes roadway patching, resurfacing/restriping, sidewalk and driveway restoration, and the installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps to improve pedestrian accessibility.
Crews have completed paving operations along Orleans Avenue and Moss Street. Pavement striping crews finished their work on both corridors at the end of September.

DPW 773: Right of Way Improvements
The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works is currently performing improvements as part of the DPW773: Right of Way (ROW) Improvements project. The project includes roadway patching, street resurfacing/restriping, sidewalk restoration, driveway repairs, and the installation of ADA-compliant ramps at various locations across the City.
Construction is currently active on Exchange Alley, behind the Hotel Monteleone, where crews are resurfacing pavement, installing new lighting, and upgrading the drainage system. The alleyway will remain impassable through early November 2025 to allow safe and efficient construction progress.

DPW775: Concrete ROW Improvements
The DPW775 Right of Way Concrete Improvement Project, designed to improve roadway conditions and enhance pedestrian safety across New Orleans, is currently underway. The project focuses on concrete roadway panel replacements, sidewalk repairs, and curb upgrades at multiple locations.
Recent and ongoing work includes:
Completed improvements at Woodland Drive and Tullis Drive, English Turn Parkway, and Eton Street at MacArthur Boulevard.
Johnny Jackson Jr. Boulevard (formerly Louisa Street): Concrete panel replacements, curb replacements, and limited sidewalk improvements are underway through November 2025, weather permitting. One full lane of roadway has been completed, and on the 3200 block of Carver Rams Way, several concrete panel replacements were also completed while in the vicinity of Johnny Jackson Jr. Boulevard.
Concrete panel replacements are in their final stages on Hammond Highway at Pontchartrain Boulevard, between Hammond Highway and Filmore Avenue.
New concrete work is progressing on Canal Boulevard from the I-610 interchange to Filmore Avenue; and between City Park Avenue and Filmore Avenue. Panel and striping work on Pontchartrain Boulevard (between Hammond Highway and 18th Street) is underway.
The 4300 - 4600 blocks of Old Gentilly Road (Desire Parkway to Louisa Street) are receiving two SWBNO water leak repairs ahead of DPW concrete improvements. All work is expected to be competed in November 2025, weather permitting.
Upcoming locations for concrete panel replacement work includes:
200 New Orleans-Hammond Highway and Regent Street:
Roy Street will receive panel replacement at its median crossing
4700 block of Alcee Fortier Street and 14000 block of Peltier Street
Lake Forest Boulevard (Read Boulevard to Wright Road)

Lake Terrace & Oaks Group B and C
This FEMA-funded project began in July 2025 and is expected to be completed by fall 2026, weather permitting. The work includes full reconstruction of five blocks, including underground utility upgrades, roadway restoration, and accessibility improvements. Crews have entered the final phase of construction on the 6200 block of Bertha Street. They are currently restoring the roadway one lane at a time, working from sidewalk to sidewalk. Once the roadway is complete, crews will begin work on sidewalks and driveways. Roadway restoration is expected to continue through early December 2025, weather permitting.

Lakeview North Group F and G
This FEMA-funded project began in June 2025 and is scheduled for completion by summer 2026, weather permitting. The project includes full reconstruction of 14 blocks, with upgrades to underground utilities, road surfaces, and streetscape features.
Current construction activities include:
6900 Colbert Street: Crews are installing drainage infrastructure. Once complete, roadway removal and restoration will begin.
6800 Vicksburg Street: Crews are preparing to start roadway removal and restoration.
6500–6600 General Diaz Street: Sewer line work is nearing completion on the 6600 block. Watermain testing will follow, and a waterline tie-in will be scheduled soon.
6700–6800 General Diaz Street: Water service work is underway on both blocks. On the 6800 block, crews are also completing sewer house connections.
7100 General Diaz Street: Waterline installation is complete. Crews are preparing to begin drain line installation.

Desire Group C and D
These FEMA-funded projects will improve 110 blocks in the Desire area, spanning from Florida Avenue to Chef Menteur Highway. The work includes roadway reconstruction, drainage upgrades, and installation of ADA-compliant sidewalks and ramps to enhance neighborhood connectivity.
Crews are currently conducting CCTV inspections to confirm the scope of work across the project area. Construction will begin once inspections are complete.

Audubon Group C
This FEMA-funded project is scheduled to begin in November 2025 and be completed by summer 2026, weather permitting. The project will improve four blocks, including the 800–1100 blocks of Arabella Street, with full reconstruction of underground utilities, roadways, and streetscape elements.
CCTV inspections of utility lines are ongoing. Construction will begin on the 800 block of Arabella Street once inspections are complete. A notice will be distributed to residents once a start date is confirmed.

Lower Ninth Northwest Group C
This FEMA-funded project began in October 2025 and is scheduled for completion by spring 2027, weather permitting. The project includes full reconstruction of 15 blocks, with improvements to underground utilities, roadways, and streetscape features. Key locations include North Galvez Street, Flood Street, North Derbigny Street, and Reynes Street.
Crews have mobilized to begin subsurface utility repairs on the 1800 block of Egania Street. All three utility systems will be addressed, followed by roadway restoration.

St. Anthony East/West Group B and C
This FEMA-funded project was awarded in August 2025 and is scheduled for completion by spring 2027, weather permitting. The project will improve 18 blocks through full reconstruction, including underground utility upgrades, roadway restoration, and streetscape enhancements. Key locations include New York Street, Allen Toussaint Boulevard, and London Drive.
Crews are currently completing subsurface utility repairs on the 6200 blocks of Waldo Drive and Wadsworth Drive. Once complete, roadway restoration will begin. Utility work is also underway on the 6200 blocks of London Drive and Warrington Drive, as well as the 1800 blocks of Allen Toussaint Boulevard and New York Street.
