As part of the $23 million Bayou St John, Fairgrounds, Seventh Ward Group B project, the Department of Public Works is implementing safety improvements to the project that already has completed Patch, Mill, Overlay and Patch Concrete work. Completed improvements include repaved roadway, ADA-compliant curb ramps and repaired sidewalks. Additional improvements, scheduled to begin in Spring 2023, include high-visibility crosswalks, and the reduction of a one vehicular lane in the left lane in either direction to provide for a flex post-protected bike lane along the neutral ground. This will calm traffic, improve safer street crossings, and will not reduce or otherwise impact parking.
