The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works has partnered with Fleming Construction Co., LLC. to complete infrastructure improvements as part of the East Riverside, Garden District, Irish Channel, St. Thomas Group B (RR036) Project. Designed by ILSI, this FEMA-funded effort will improve 8 blocks and includes full reconstruction, which covers subsurface repairs, surface restoration, and streetscape enhancements.
Subsurface work includes the installation of new underground utilities, which will improve drainage and service reliability. Once that work is complete, surface repairs will follow, providing a smooth, newly paved roadway. The project also includes streetscape improvements such as ADA-compliant curb ramps at intersections, along with sidewalk and curb repairs to enhance accessibility and pedestrian safety.
Project Locations:
The Department of Public Works will manage the project through completion. Crews will generally work Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with weekend work as needed.
Traffic control measures, including signage, fencing, and “No Parking / Tow Away Zone” notifications, will be implemented in active construction areas. Local access for residents, deliveries, and emergency services will be maintained at all times.
