The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) is making improvements along Morrison Road as part of the Morrison Road (Mayo–Bullard) Improvement Project, a $23.6 million investment funded by the Federal Highway Administration (80%) and the City of New Orleans Bond Program (20%).
The project includes roadway repairs, bridge improvements, and street and sidewalk improvements to improve safety, accessibility, and travel options for everyone, whether walking, biking, or driving.
The scope of work varies by block and includes:
- Pavement repairs along Morrison Road
- Repairs to three bridges
- Replacement of two bridges on the eastbound side
- Installation of Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps
- Construction of a two-way curb-protected greenway path along the eastbound side of the Morrison Canal
- Additional neutral ground green space at Lake Willos Drive and Benson Street intersections
- High-visibility crosswalks at major intersections

Morrison Road Project Renderings
The Department of Public Works will manage the project through completion. Crews will generally work Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with weekend work as needed.
Traffic control measures, including signage, fencing, and “No Parking / Tow Away Zone” notifications, will be implemented in active construction areas. Local access for residents, deliveries, and emergency services will be maintained at all times.
