Uptown Group B (RR184) – Project Overview
New Orleans FEMA Optimized Groups (NOFOG) – Group 7
The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) will soon begin construction on Uptown Group B (RR184), one of three project locations included in the New Orleans FEMA Optimized Groups (NOFOG) Group 7 project.
Designed by All South Consulting Engineers and funded by FEMA, this project will improve 20 blocks in the Uptown area. Work will vary block by block and may include subsurface utility installation and upgrades that improve drainage flow and service reliability; roadway restoration, including resurfacing or full reconstruction to create a smoother, safer roadway; and streetscape and accessibility enhancements such as ADA-compliant curb ramps, sidewalk and curb repairs, and other improvements that support pedestrian safety.
This project is part of the City’s broader Joint Infrastructure Recovery Request (JIRR) program—the most comprehensive infrastructure rebuilding initiative in a generation, delivered in partnership between DPW and the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO). About the NOFOG Program
Uptown Group B (RR184) is part of the New Orleans FEMA Optimized Group (NOFOG), the final phase of the City’s FEMA-funded infrastructure recovery effort. This phase includes seven major projects packaged into nineteen construction groups and provides upgrades across an additional 390 blocks citywide. The NOFOG structure uses external program management to improve coordination, scheduling, and overall delivery, building on lessons learned from earlier phases of the JIRR program to ensure neighborhoods across New Orleans receive long-planned infrastructure improvements.
Please Note: Construction schedules and timelines are subject to change due to inclement weather, equipment availability, or unforeseen site conditions.
