To Qualify to Vote, You Must

  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Be at least 17 years old, but must be 18 years old by the next election to vote
  • 16-year-olds may only register in person at the Registrar of Voters Office or at the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles, and will not be able to vote until 18 years old
  • Not be under an order of imprisonment for conviction of a felony
  • Not to be under a judgment of full interdiction for mental incompetence or partial interdiction with suspension of voting rights
  • Reside in the state parish in which you seek to register

Off probation or parole? You can register or re-register to vote! Bring your ID and Voter's Rights Certificate to the Registrar's Office.  The Voter's Rights Certificate may be obtained from the LA Probation and Parole Office, for more information, call Probation and Parole at (504) 962-4400.
