June 22, 2023 | From City of New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS — Thursday, Mayor LaToya Cantrell signed her fifth executive order. Executive Order LC 18-05 creates the Mayor's Office of Transportation. The office will serve as a vehicle for facilitating coordination of transportation infrastructure projects and initiatives for the City of New Orleans.
"The creation of the Mayor’s Office of Transportation came out of the hard work our transition team did, looking at where we have opportunities to improve coordination and help grow our regional economy,” said Mayor Cantrell. “I look forward to seeing this recommendation fully realized.”
The Office will be the liaison to the City for the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority, the Port of New Orleans, Louis Armstrong International Airport and other transportation-related partners. The office will coordinate projects and strategic initiatives for internal departments and external partners and advise the Mayor, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and Deputy CAOs of the status of transportation opportunities.
