Complete Streets is an approach to creating a more comprehensive and integrated transportation network that balances the needs of all users traveling in the public right-of-way, including people walking, bicycling, driving, and using transit. The is approach is consistent with Plan for the 21st Century: New Orleans 2030 (Master Plan) recommendation for the City to establish a Complete Streets Policy.
The City's Complete Streets Policy & Program is outlined in CAO Policy 134 (R), updated in October 2020, and establishes the Program consistent with Sec. 146-36 of the City Code as adopted by Ordinance No. 24,706 MCS.
Annual Report
The Complete Streets Annual Report highlights areas of achievement, outstanding needs, and future plans for our streets to safely and comfortably accommodate all users. The report follows directives from the Complete Streets Policy adopted in 2020, and reports on progress made since then.
Working Group
The Complete Streets Policy establishes the Complete Streets Working Group "to ensure that the Complete Streets policy is applied in the planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of all Projects, to monitor execution of the Complete Streets Program, and to provide input, as appropriate, into policies, procedures, and regulations as they are developed within the context of the Complete Streets Program."
The Working Group meetings are quarterly and are open to the public. Meeting agendas will be posted to this page in advance of meetings and meeting notes posted following meetings.
