Energy Smart is a comprehensive energy efficiency program developed by the New Orleans City Council and administered by Entergy New Orleans. The program incentivizes Entergy New Orleans customers to perform energy saving upgrades in their homes and businesses. The Energy Smart team works with residents, business owners, facility managers and trade ally contractors to identify opportunities and provide cash incentives for completing eligible upgrades with measurable and verifiable energy savings.
The passage of the Inflation Reduction Act expanded the number and dollar amounts of tax credits available to make energy efficiency upgrades to homes. Tax incentives cover costs related to appliances such as heat pumps and electric/induction stoves, as well as repairs related to electrical wiring, windows, and insulation. Find out more about the different tax incentives to make your home more energy efficient here.
The New Orleans City Council has regulatory power over Entergy New Orleans, specifically through the Utility, Cable, Telecommunications and Technology Committee. It also maintains oversight of utility consultants whose responsibilities include advising the Council on all utility matters and providing best practices insight, and makes recommendations to the full Council concerning electric and gas utility rates and services. Visit Utility, Cable, Telecommunications and Technology Committee - New Orleans City Council (nola.gov) for more information.
