Water Access for Gardens & Farms

Reliable water access has become more and more necessary for urban agriculture to succeed. Some growers have relied on, and some continue to, water catchment systems such as rain barrels or transporting buckets of water from other sites. As climate impacts become more severe, we're facing more frequent and extreme droughts that make these options less and less viable.

Growers need reliable irrigation and have the option to get an Irrigation Only account through Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO). If you have an Irrigation Only account, you will only be charged for irrigation, not for sewerage or sanitation. Whether you already have a SWBNO account and just need to change it to Irrigation Only or need to find an old meter on your site and get it re-installed, the guide below will give provide you with a step-by-step process.
