News & Updates in the RWSR Community

Ryan White Services & Resources, formerly Office of Health Policy

Ryan White Services and Resources (RWSR), a division of the New Orleans Health Department, funds agencies to provide HIV treatment and prevention-related services in the New Orleans metro area. The primary grants that support the efforts include HRSA Ryan White Part A and HRSA and CDC Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) grants.

RWSR disseminates these funds to local agencies to provide services to eligible individuals residing in Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, and St. Tammany parishes.

RWSR collaborates closely with community planning groups to ensure services are reflective of needs in the area and reach the population affected by HIV.

Our Mission: Ending HIV

As part of the Fast Track Cities initiative, New Orleans is committed to ambitious goals in HIV prevention and treatment. We're working toward ensuring 90% of individuals know their status, receive antiretroviral therapy, and achieve viral suppression. Additional funding through the Ending the HIV Epidemic program helps expand these vital services.

Prevention and Testing

Prevention remains key to ending the HIV epidemic. We offer:

  • Free, anonymous HIV testing using our Text to Test Feature by texting “TEST” to (504) 788-2400
  • Access to PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) medication
  • Educational resources
  • Support services

Visit the Louisiana Health Hub to find testing locations and learn more about prevention options.
