The Zoning Division is responsible for reviewing & approving business licenses for businesses that wish to operate within Orleans Parish. The following are the 7 types of business licenses an establishment can request:
1. Occupational Licenses: (Brick & mortar locations & home-based)
2. Alcoholic Beverage Outlet Licenses
3. Alcoholic Beverage Outlet Manager Licenses
4. Live Entertainment Licenses
5. Sidewalk Use Permit (A-frame signs, sidewalk cafes...etc.)
6. Parklet Permits
7. XSTR Licenses: (Allows hotels & BNBs to advertise on 3rd party platforms)

Review Process
Once an application is submitted an analyst is assigned to the case to review for completeness. As part of the review the analyst will review the City's permitting and licensing history for the location, ensure all required documents have been submitted and determine if an inspection is necessary. If all the requirements have been met, the license will be approved. If additional information is required, an email will be sent to the applicant via the One Stop portal.
Review times vary, but it typically takes approximately 5 business days to receive comments.

Safety & Permits is responsible for renewing the following licenses:
1. Alcoholic Beverage Outlets (expires annually on 5/31
2. ABO Manager (expires 1 year from date of issuance)
3. Live Entertainment (expires annually on 5/31)
4. Sidewalk Use Permit (expires 1 year from date of issuance)
5. Parklet (expires 1 year from date of issuance)
