Broadmoor DPS01

Target Neighborhoods for Flood Mitigation

The Broad Street Resilience Project focuses on installing integrated flood defense infrastructure across nine New Orleans neighborhoods situated between the Central Business District and Uptown areas within the Drainage Pump Station 1 (DPS 01) district.

Included communities facing frequent stormwater localized street flooding and property damage during regular rainfall due to drainage limitations are:

  • Broadmoor
  • Central City
  • Garden District
  • Lower Garden District
  • Irish Channel
  • St. Thomas Development
  • Touro
  • East Riverside
  • Milan

While the full corridor benefits, construction centres around a boundary from Broad Street down to Tchoupitoulas Street between Martin Luther King Blvd and Louisiana Avenue including connections up through Melpomene Street and Toledano Street.

Strategically implementing green storm buffers alongside buried pipe augmentations manages pooling water through sustainable absorption, surface routing and pumping – providing integrated defense benefiting residents citywide.
