The Mentor-Protégé Program is a valuable resource for certified SLDBE (State & Local Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) firms. It pairs experienced companies with smaller businesses to share knowledge and expertise.

Mentor-Protégé Program Details:

Duration:

  • Up to two 36-month terms (72 months total)
  • Protégé must maintain eligibility and annual DBE certification

Benefits for Mentor Firms:

  • Automatic DBE recertification for up to 10 years
  • Annual recertification required
  • Must comply with approved development plan

Key Program Requirements:

  1. Participation
    • Voluntary for all firms
  2. Eligibility
    •  Mentors: Graduated from City's SLDBE program • Protégés: Current SLDBE certification from New Orleans
  3. Submission
    • Both parties submit capability statements • Joint written development plan, approved by Office of Supplier Diversity
  4. Reporting
    • Quarterly summaries of skill-building and technical assistance
