New Digital Payment Options Now Available for City Property Tax Payments; Delinquent Property Owners Encouraged to Pay Outstanding Balances
NEW ORLEANS - The City of New Orleans issuing notices to property owners with outstanding real estate or business personal property taxes and is urging residents to resolve delinquent balances as soon as possible. Balances can be viewed online at www.nola.gov/treasury, and printed bills will be mailed to the mailing address on file as determined by the Orleans Parish Assessor’s Office.
To avoid additional charges, property owners are strongly encouraged to settle delinquent accounts promptly. In accordance with state law, interest accrues at 1% per month, and payments received will be applied in chronological order, first satisfying the most delinquent tax years.
Here are several secure, easy‑to‑use payment methods so residents can quickly bring their accounts into compliance:
By Mail
Send your payment using the scannable bill stub and the enclosed return envelope.
- Accepted forms of payment are check, money order, and cashier’s check.
Online
Paying on-line at the city’s website www.nola.gov/treasury
- NO convenience fee when you use your checking account (E-check)
- Debit and Credit Cards are accepted
- The Bureau of Treasury is NOW accepting American Express, Venmo, Google Pay, PayPal, and Apple Pay!
- A 2.49% processing fee is added for debit or credit cards, Venmo, Google Pay, PayPal, and Apple Pay.
- Available all day, every day – no weather or parking concerns
- Payment is posted effective the date you authorize your bank payment
- Only payments of the entire tax bill are accepted at the web site.
Paying in person at City Hall, 1300 Perdido St. Rm 1W40.
- Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:55pm
- City Hall will be closed on Friday, July 3rd
