Woman Dies in Automobile Crash

(October 02, 2013) New Orleans Police Fatality Section is investigating a fatality that left a 44-year-old woman dead. The accident occurred shortly before 12:30pm, on the Interstate Ten @the Louisa Onramp.  

The driver of a tan Chevy Cruze was exiting the Interstate at Louisa when the vehicle began to experience mechanical failure. The vehicle struck a transient female who standing on side of the interstate. The vehicle also struck a light pole causing it to rest on a tan Lexus SUV that was stopped for the red light. The 22-year-old male driver and his two infant passengers were transported to the hospital with complaints of minor injuries. The 44-year-old female was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Lexus was not injured.

The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at the present time.

Fatality Investigator Edgar Edwards is in charge of the investigation.
