An NOPD Seventh District Task Force Officer of five years of service was shot and the suspect 17-year-old Stahili Glover was shot and apprehended tonight in New Orleans East during a struggle with the suspect’s gun. The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 P.M. in the 7900 block of Chef Menteur Highway.
The Seventh District had received calls of loitering and suspicious activity in the 7900 block of Chef Menteur Highway. The Officers while on patrol spotted two subjects loitering near a store. When the officers went to investigate, Glover fled on foot. The officer chased Glover for a short distance at which time he tripped in front of a store. When the officer attempted to apprehend Glover, a struggle ensued at which time the gun Glover had discharged striking the officer in the ankle and Glover to groin area.
The officer’s partner was not injured and no one else was injured in the incident.
The male officer was treated at a nearby hospital and will be released.
Glover was transported to the hospital for his injury and is listed in stable condition.
Glover will be booked accordingly when released from the hospital.
The NOPD FIT will conduct its investigation and determine the origin of the gun that Glover had.
