Need to RENEW your existing license? Please visit the Occupational License Renewal page.
An Occupational License is required if you will be conducting any business in Orleans Parish. Begin by applying on the One Stop website. After applying, a zoning inspection may be necessary depending on the nature of the business being opened. Click here for the business license guide and familiarize yourself with New Orleans City Code Chapter 30.
Once your business is approved by the City you will be registered with Bureau of Revenue and you may request a Resale Exemption Certificate that will allow you to purchase items without paying the sales tax for items resold in the normal course of operating your business. Non-profit organizations may also obtain sales tax, mayoralty permit, amusement tax, and occupational license tax exemptions for conducting activities benefiting their organization.
RENEWALS: An Occupational or General Business license renewal is required all businesses. Renew online or fill out the form (Form 8030) here and return it to the Bureau of Revenue at City Hall.
Payment is submitted to the One Stop App AFTER you are approved. The $50 fee is to be paid on the One Stop App website (Home Based Businesses also require a Certificate of Occupancy fee of $190 while all other businesses received their Certificates of Occupancy with their building permit)
After the Occupational License is approved, a Temporary Occupational License will be generated, and a pdf copy can be downloaded from the One Stop App. The second page of the pdf is your Amended Return form, which must be completed within the first 40 days of operation and mailed back to the Bureau of Revenue at:
