Bill Pay

It is not advisable to use your bank’s bill pay option.  However, if you wish to use bill pay, please ensure that you include the full mailing address.

You may pay via phone using an electronic check (e-Check), credit card, or debit card at 888-387-8027.

The following credit cards are accepted for payment: Discover, MasterCard and Visa. Credit card payments impose an additional fee of 2.49% (or $2.00 minimum) processing fee.

A convenience fee will be charged for each credit or debit card transaction.  Convenience fees are charged to cover the administrative cost associated with accepting payments online.  These fees are collected by JPMorgan Chase Bank and are non-refundable. Neither the City of New Orleans nor the Bureau of Treasury receives any portion of the fee.

When making a payment via phone, the representative will ask for your email address so that you may receive a payment confirmation.  If you do not have an email address, please inform the representative.

You should receive two (2) payment confirmations.  Your first confirmation number confirms an attempt to pay. The second confirms that the payment was drafted from your bank account.  Contact your financial institution to confirm the transaction was completed.

You may pay in our office at New Orleans City Hall, Bureau of Treasury, 1300 Perdido Street, Room 1W40.  We are open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:55 p.m.  We are closed on most major holidays including Mardi Gras.

Forms of payment accepted for taxes not involved in a tax sale or adjudication include cash, personal check, money order, or cashier’s check.  Credit card payments cannot be made in person at this time.  Payments for redemption of taxes included in a tax sale or adjudication must be in the form of cash or cashier’s check.

A returned check fee of $30 may be assessed on each bill that is paid with a dishonored check or other instrument that is returned by the bank or financial institution on which it is drawn. Do not postdate checks. This fee will be assessed for checks returned for insufficient funds or checks with an incorrect account or routing number entered.

Tax Bills

Find Your Current Tax Bill

Bills are mailed to the owner of record with the Orleans Parish Assessor’s Office, generally mid-to-late December. If a bank or mortgage lender pays your property tax from your escrow, you will still be mailed a property tax bill. We do not mail a property tax bill if your property is fully exempt (e.g a church).

Revised bills, liens from Code Enforcement, and charges from Safety & Permits are usually not included in the payment made by your bank or mortgage company; taxpayers are personally responsible for those payments.

If you do not receive a property tax bill, you can search and download the original tax bill. If you believe that the "Previous Balance" shown on your bill has been paid, but not credited, please contact our office so that we may review your account. If there is an error, we will correct the records. Please contact our office for payment errors PRIOR to paying a future bill.

You may pay all years due or make a partial payment of your taxes. Partial payments will be applied on a pro-rata basis to tax and interest. Unpaid balances will be subject to interest. Note: Partial payments are not allowed when paying online.
