The City's Recycling Drop-Off Center at 2829 Elysian Fields Ave is open weekly on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m to Orleans Parish residents (businesses & organizations excluded).
All food items should be thoroughly washed before recycling. Monthly Drop off-Sorting is not required; however, citizens should separate paper, metals, cardboard and plastics, which are disposed of through different processes.
Citizens should not place their recyclables in plastic bags for curbside recycling or Recycling Drop-Off.
Styrofoam, containers with food, and items stained with grease (i.e. pizza boxes) are not accepted in the curbside program or at the Recycling Drop-Off Center.
Not accepting composting materials at this time.
The Department of Sanitation coordinates a number of opportunities to recycle special household objects. These include:
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) encompasses leftover household products that contain corrosive, toxic, ignitable, or reactive ingredients. Residents cannot and should not place Household Hazardous Waste in trash during regular pick-up. Note: HHW Materials Collection Day is open to Orleans Parish residents only, business excluded.
On Shred Days, the Department of Sanitation offers residents the ability to shred personal and/or sensitive paper goods up to 50 pounds per person. This is a free community service.
