Why Registration Matters

Each year, valuable police resources are diverted to respond to thousands of false alarms, affecting our ability to address real emergencies. To better serve our community, New Orleans has implemented a streamlined alarm management system.

Current Policy Guidelines

Our "Four Strikes" annual policy is designed to be fair while reducing unnecessary responses:

  • First false alarm: Warning only
  • Second false alarm: $75 fine
  • Third false alarm: $150 fine
  • Fourth false alarm: $150 fine and potential service suspension

Service suspension notices are sent via certified mail, with a 15-day appeal window to the Superintendent.
