According to the Code of the City of New Orleans Sec. 134-41, any person who engages as a business in the erection, placement, leasing or permitting of others to use signs shall first obtain a registration from the department of safety and permits to do so.
New license applicants must first submit a complete application package based on their type of license request to tradelicenseinfo@nola.gov. All applications are subject to be reviewed by a team member.
All documents are required to be saved and attached as separate PDF or PNG or JPEG to your email.
Sign Company Registrations can be renewed online through the One Stop App. Attach all required documents to your renewal application in the One Stop App.

Licenses expire on the last day of each year. Renewal periods start 90 days before the last day of each calendar year.
The qualifying party or authorized agent is required to pick-up their City of New Orleans Trade License card. License pick-up is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM from the Department of Safety and Permits offices located at 1340 Poydras St, Suite 800, New Orleans, LA 70112.
