Community Engagement Meetings

The planning and implementation phases of Moving New Orleans Bikes have involved extensive public engagement, through public meetings, online tools, and most recently virtual meetings as part of the City's response to Covid-19.  Details of all meetings, including meeting presentations, since the Spring 2019 kick-off of Moving New Orleans Bikes are archived below to allow residents to review the content even if they were unable to participate in the original meeting.

Conceptual and Pre-Construction Meetings

Algiers (Phase 1)

The first Moving New Orleans Bikes projects to be constructed will be located in Algiers - 11 miles of bikeways over 11 corridors.

In August 2019, two public meetings were held in Algiers to introduce conceptual designs for the 11 rapid build corridors.  These conceptual designs represented typical roadway cross sections of existing and potential layouts.

Planning Meetings

Summer 2019

In July and August, the Office of Transportation and Department of Public Works hosted a second round of public meetings to share the city-wide, low-stress bikeway network as part of Moving New Orleans Bikes. Attendees learned which corridors are likely to undergo biking and walking improvements, the criteria used to determine where new facilities will be located, and what feedback residents gave from previous public meetings and an online survey earlier this spring and summer.  View the presentation and draft bikeway network map from these meetings.
