The City of New Orleans

Mayor Mitchell J. Landrieu

Business Services

The City of New Orleans understands the important role businesses play in the local economy and quality of life. It is the City’s mission to actively partner with qualified projects that are looking to expand or relocate within Orleans Parish. Our goal is to provide qualified projects, a competitive incentive offer that matches each project’s needs. With this goal in mind, the City of New Orleans offers an array of business development programs and initiatives to assist entrepreneurs in starting and growing their business.

Personally, I found the Business Information Sessions introduced us to many programs available through the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development and other areas within City Hall most beneficial.  I especially enjoyed the series when the various department heads came out and assisted us.  I'm sad when one series ends, but excited when the next session begins. It was like being refreshed and inspired all over again.  Keep up the great job! The time and effort by this office is greatly appreciated as you assist us in growing our businesses. I look forward to another year filled with informative, encouraging, and refreshing sessions. Thanks again.

As a consultant for over twenty years, I have represented a variety of real estate investors in the City of New Orleans in their pursuit of tax incentive programs available for renovation and reconstruction projects.  The Restoration Tax Abatement Program (RTA) has been a key component to the real estate redevelopment efforts over the years.  The City of New Orleans Mayor's Office of Economic Development, has ALWAYS been easily accessible, knowledgeable and courteous. Over the years their office has maintained a level of expertise and have desired to help all types of redevelopment whether small or large in pursuit of the RTA program.  Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, their office has become even more efficient, with more detailed checks and balances for the RTA program on a local level implemented.  It has been a pleasure to work with the office of Economic Development in New Orleans.
