In order to ensure public safety through compliance with the International Construction Code (ICC) as adopted by the City of New Orleans as well as all other related state and parish regulations, electricians performing work within the City of New Orleans are required to obtain and renew annually an Electrical License from the City. Electricians with ICC certifications can apply as Class D Journeyman Electricians' ($60)
New license applicants must first submit a complete application package based on their type of license request to tradelicenseinfo@nola.gov. All applications are subject to be reviewed by a team member. Upon completion of the review and all requirements are met, the applicant (qualifying party) will receive a scheduled appointment to come into our office in person for the processing of their license.
All documents are required to be saved and attached as separate PDF or PNG or JPEG to your email.
Class "D" Journeyman Electrical Licenses can be renewed online through the One Stop App. Attach all required documents to your renewal application in the One Stop App.

Expires on the license holder’s day of birth (as printed on issued Trade License card). Renewal periods starts 90 days before the license holder’s birthday.
The qualifying party or authorized agent is required to pick-up their City of New Orleans Trade License card. License pick-up is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM from the Department of Safety and Permits offices located at 1340 Poydras St, Suite 800, New Orleans, LA 70112.
