Mayoral Proclamation/Certificate Request

The City of New Orleans continues to honor many local and national organizations, events, and individuals for outstanding humanitarian efforts by presenting them with an official proclamation from the Mayor of New Orleans.

Proclamations/Certificates are only used for:


  • Major milestones
  • Awards and honors
  • Outstanding community service
  • Faith-based milestones and anniversaries (5 year increments)


  • Heroic Deeds
  • Outstanding Community Service
  • Major Milestones (In Increments of 5 years), Limited to the Following Categories: 
    • Birthday celebrations – (60+ years) 
    • Anniversaries
    • Retirements
    • Faith Leader Anniversaries

All persons requesting proclamations and/or certificates must fill out the online request form below.  

Draft language for a proclamation in "Whereas, Therefore" format must be provided.

Applications must be completed and submitted 10 business days in advance of the event. All requests are subject to review and editing before we accept or decline them.

Only one original copy of each proclamation will be made.

Upon review and approval, Proclamations and/or certificates can be sent via email or picked up on Monday - Friday from the Mayor’s Office, Suite 2E04, 1300 Perdido St., during business hours (9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.).

The requestor will be notified when the proclamation is ready for pick-up.

Max. 6 proclamations are allowed per event.
