Chapter 66 of municipal code regulates booting motor vehicles on private property. This code outlines requirements such as fees, signage, and booting agent requirements. All companies performing vehicle booting on private property must be licensed by the Department of Safety and Permits. To see the specific regulations on private booting, please see City code of New Orleans 66:401-408.
To apply for a license to boot vehicles on private property, you must complete a booting service application, which lists all requirements. In addition, all personnel involved in placing and removing boots must complete a booting personnel application and must meet all background check and drug screen requirements and must be approved by Safety and Permits.
For information, contact the Department of Safety and Permits Private Booting Division at (504) 658-7101.
