Street Sweeping

The Department of Sanitation oversees the delivery of sanitation services in:

• French Quarter, the neighborhood bordered by:
  • Rampart Street, Canal Street, Esplanade Street, and the Mississippi River
• Downtown Development District, the neighborhood bordered by:
  • Calliope Street, Claiborne Avenue, Iberville Street, and the Mississippi River.  

These services include mechanical street sweeping and flushing, pressure washing of sidewalks and designated areas, public litter can collection, litter removal, and special event clean-up.

While mechanical street sweeping occurs seven days per week in the French Quarter, the City has posted No Parking Zones which are enforced on Tue and Thu from 8:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m.
