The New Orleans City Planning Commission is a nine member citizen board appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. The Planning Commission provides analysis and recommendations to the City Council on matters dealing with the present and future development of the City, in accordance with the goals and policies of the City's Plan for the 21st Century or the Master Plan. This includes reviewing, approving, and/or recommending to the City Council requests for master plan amendments, map changes, text amendments to the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance (CZO), appeals and subdivisions. The Planning Commission meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month (unless otherwise indicated) at 1:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
The Board of Zoning Adjustments (BZA) is a seven member board made up of citizens that are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. The Board hears and makes final decisions on requests for variances from the requirements of the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance and considers appeals of decisions by the Director of Safety and Permits. This Board was placed under the management of City Planning by a City Charter revision that became effective on January 1, 1996. The Board of Zoning Adjustments meets the first Monday of each month (unless otherwise indicated) at 10:00 am in the City Council Chambers.

The City Planning Commission's Zoning and Land Use Committee will discuss the draft Subdivision Regulations at its meeting on May 15, 2024 at 11:00 am in the conference room on the eighth floor of City Hall, 1300 Perdido Street.
April 16, 2024
The April 10 DAC meeting, which was cancelled due to severe weather, is rescheduled for Wednesday, April 17 at 10 a.m. It will be held in Conference Room A on the seventh floor of City Hall, 1300 Perdido Street.

The April 10 meeting of the Design Advisory Committee is cancelled due to the closure of City Hall. It will be rescheduled and the new meeting date will be posted once it is determined.
The April 9, 2024 meeting of the CPC Zoning and Land Use Committee is cancelled due to a lack of quorum. It will be rescheduled in the near future and an announcment will be posted with the new meting date.

The purpose of the Neighborhood Participation Program for Land Use actions is to provide timely notification of any proposed land use action affecting a neighborhood and to provide the opportunity for meaningful neighborhood review of and comment on such proposals.

The CPC Brownfield Program is tasked with supporting project redevelopment and environmental clean-up. Following the EPA guidelines for cleanup and reuse are essential to ensure the contamination does not affect the quality of life of residents. Brownfield funding help to bridge the financial gap when expensive contamination/assessment and clean-up are needed.
