FILM NEW ORLEANS PARTNERS WITH NEW ORLEANS VIDEO ACCESS CENTER ON WORKFORCE TRAINING SESSION
NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans today announced that Film New Orleans will offer a free film workforce training session in partnership with the New Orleans Video Access Center (NOVAC) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 23 at Gallier Hall, 545 St. Charles Avenue.
“The film industry in New Orleans continues to be one of the shining examples of what makes our city so special, and there are so many people who recognize New Orleans for what it is – an exceptional place to make on-screen magic,” said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. “Every day we have so many opportunities to take advantage of this ever-growing industry, which is precisely why we need training sessions like this one.”
The Film New Orleans Locations Department, which identifies and secures sites for filming, obtains permits, and assists the locations team with managing the production sites, will participate in the training session. It will be conducted by Mickey Lambert, a veteran film location manager. NOVAC will assist participants in securing jobs in the film production industry.
“The amount of production in the city increases monthly as major studios and streaming services drive content to major production hubs like New Orleans, to produce films and tv series,” said Carroll Morton, Director of Film New Orleans in the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy. “The demand for a well-trained union workforce continues to increase and the City of New Orleans is responding by supporting workforce development programs provided by our partners at NOVAC.”
